CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The SMA Pedagogy Symposium presented by the University of South Carolina David and Nicole Tepper Department of Sport and Entertainment Management is a forum on Thursday, October 29 for discussion of latest strategies, teaching assignments, projects, and other learning tools of use and importance to sport marketing faculty. The format is “walk-up” in nature where presenters can have conversations and exchange ideas with attendees about teaching tools (e.g., teaching with sport marketing case studies, best practices for implementing applied student projects, maximizing guest speakers, AI in the classroom, etc).

Individuals whose abstracts are accepted must register for the 2026 Sport Marketing Association Conference to be eligible to present.  All presenters must have instructive material to share with attendees. The shareable learning tool can be tangible, digital, or a combination of the two. We encourage creativity!

“Sponsorship Sales Role-Play Exercise”

This presentation provides an overview of a sponsorship sales role-play activity. For this assignment, all students represent either a sport property or a potential sponsor. They are charged with creating an appropriate sponsorship "fit" before entering into mock negotiations based on background information provided for each property and potential sponsor. Copies of the assignment will be provided at the symposium and recommendations on how to best implement activities in class will be discussed.
