John K. Solheim, Vice-President of Engineering for PING Inc, graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University in 1996 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 2001, he completed an Executive MBA degree from ASU. He began his career at PING , which was founded by his grandfather, Karsten Solheim, and is currently under the direction of his father, John A. Solheim, as a high school student working in the company’s engineering department. Upon earning his undergraduate degree in ’96, John K. went to work full-time for PING as a design engineer and project manager.
In 2001, he was named to his current position in which he’s responsible for guiding the company’s product development efforts and overseeing a staff of 60 engineers and support personnel. In his tenure, he’s overseen numerous product launches, including the highly successful G2 and G5 introductions. He’s also guided the department’s lean initiative program which has resulted in a quadrupling of the group’s productivity. He’s served on the board of PING ’s parent company, Karsten Manufacturing Corporation, since 1996.
John K, 31, is married and has three children. He enjoys traveling with his family, playing golf (5 handicap) and music.
